Privacy Policy

          We built Parlio to help you learn languages. We collect only what is necessary to run the
          app and never sell your data to anyone.
        

1. Who We Are

Parlio is a mobile language learning application. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at parlio.app@gmail.com.

2. Data We Collect

When you create an account and use the app, we collect:

Email address — for account creation and authentication
Display name and profile photo — shown on your profile and the leaderboard (if you choose to participate)
Learning progress — which sentences you have studied or learned, quiz results, streak count
Custom sentences — sentences you add to the app yourself
App settings — language preferences, theme, daily goal, notification preferences

We do not collect location data, contacts, camera access, or any data unrelated to language learning.

3. How We Use Your Data

To provide and improve the app's core features
To sync your progress across devices
To display your rank on the weekly leaderboard (only if you have not opted out)
To send daily practice reminders (only if you enable notifications)

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sell it to third parties.

4. Leaderboard

By default, your weekly learning activity (as a number only — not your specific words or sentences) and display name are visible to other users on the leaderboard. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Ranking, after which you will appear as anonymous.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider. Supabase infrastructure is hosted on AWS data centers, primarily in the EU (West Europe) region. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). We apply row-level security so that users can only access their own data.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active:

Account data (email, display name, profile photo) — retained until you delete your account
Learning progress and quiz results — retained until you delete your account
Custom sentences — retained until you delete them or delete your account

When you delete your account via Settings → Account → Delete Account, all your personal data is permanently and irreversibly removed from our servers within 30 days.

7. In-App Purchases

Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not receive or store your payment card information. Purchase records are managed by the respective platform.

8. Push Notifications

If you enable daily reminders, we schedule local push notifications on your device. No notification content is sent to our servers. You can disable notifications at any time in Settings.

9. Your Rights

You can at any time:

Access or update your data within the app
Delete your account via Settings → Account → Delete Account, which permanently removes all your data from our servers
Opt out of the leaderboard via Settings → Ranking
Request a copy of your data by contacting us at parlio.app@gmail.com

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Children's Privacy

Parlio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service

          By downloading or using Parlio, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
        

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the Parlio app ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Account

You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.

3. Premium Subscription

The App offers optional Premium subscriptions that unlock additional features:

Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's account settings
No refunds are provided for partially used subscription periods, except where required by applicable law
Prices may vary by region and are subject to change with reasonable notice

4. User Content

You may add custom sentences and content to the App. You retain ownership of your content. By adding content, you grant us a limited license to store and display it to you within the App. You are responsible for ensuring your content does not violate any laws or third-party rights.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or disrupt the App or its infrastructure
Create fake accounts or manipulate leaderboard rankings
Share your account with others

6. Intellectual Property

All content in the App — including sentence databases, UI design, and brand assets — is the property of Parlio and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that learning outcomes will be achieved. Language learning results depend on your individual effort and practice.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parlio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you through the App of any significant changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Turkey.
